Description
This is not a painting. I started with a rectangle on my computer canvas that I filled with a colored pattern. I then pushed the outside of the shape, and pulled parts of the inside to the outside, to achieve the final subject. As with a sculpture, some pieses were cut away. The colors and patterns move and blend as I do this. My completed image has been layered on my painted background.

Mountain Lions are highly adaptable and live in habitats ranging from snow-covered mountains to tropical rainforests. They are indigenous to Nort hand South America. Very powerful hindquarters allow them to bound 23' in one leap and jump 16' in height from the ground; they can drop 65' to ground without sustaining an injury. While normally reclusive, in western states they often prowl the ranch areas during calving season. Here in Montana, trackers are hired, and using trained dogs, these outdoorsmen hound (literally) a cat until it retreats back into the mountains. A tracker was called in near my place a couple of years ago after a female and her yearling cubs killed a neighbor's goats (about 3/4 mile from my house). I don't know how long the chase went on, but man and dogs pushed the cats high up into the BLM forests. We haven't had a sighting since then. It is nice to know that some animal control remedies don't include killing.
