I have a friend who has been subsistence hunter for many years. This skull of a bighorn ram is from a kill taken more than 20 years ago. Rather than a trophy head on a wall (taxidermy and all that), he put it in a tree on his property--probably at shoulder height; the tree has grown and the remnant is now nearly ten feet above ground. The surrounding pines have become a foot and half in diameter. I would never have know this old object was there until his wife (also a hunter) pointed it out to me. Along with the corrugated look on the curve of the horns, I found the arc over the nose area interesting. It looks like stitching, and I wonder if it's the demarkation of regular bone and the thicker, tougher bone of the forehead with which the rams batter each other during rut.
