Artist's Description
This derelict rooming house for miners and rusted car are in Marysville, Montana--a former mining town. Once considered a ghost town, Marysville is being refurbished with an influx of people who are working to create a contemporary community while preserving the past.
My image "Marysville Ruin 1" is a picture of the house five years ago. http://fineartamerica.com/featured/marysville-ruin-1-kae-cheatham.html Weather, especially winter, has really taken its toll. The car has since been moved.

About Kae Cheatham

I am a visual artist (Kae C's Images) at work a few miles east of the Continental Divide in Montana USA, who produces photographic images, graphic arts, and computer art. I started with SLRs, but since 2002 have embraced the digital era. My photos have been used in many publications, including American Cowboy, Bloodlines, Orion Magazine, Pro Rodeo World (along with my articles), and Royal Wings (an international in-flight magazine). Digital painting and graphic art techniques developed when working with authors to create covers for their books. I apply these skills to many of my images. The bulk of my PHOTOGRAPHY deals with rural enterprise and activities. If you are interested in those subjects (with a western flair) please visit my...

Wonderful composition of this peaceful scene. So many stories the house and car could tell.

Thanks for the congrats and comment, Anne. Yes, the Marysville Pioneer Society is going strong, with many activities and a summer art show where proceeds go to restoration projects and maintaining a fine museum.

Congratulations for being the Featured Artist of the Week in A Woman's Touch group! I love this wonderful scene of the old, abandoned home and car. It makes me wonder about the people who lived there and what their lives were like.
Kae Cheatham replied:
Thanks, Bridget, for the comment. The people were miners, the house, a boarding house. Tough life, I'm sure.

Well done Kae, got a photo of this car but it was not sitting in front of this house.
Kae Cheatham replied:
The house and car sat in this position for nigh onto 30 years. The car move came 2 years ago. The house....well, I have several pics that show how winter has finally taken its toll on the former miners rooming house. Thanks for visiting my gallery.
