This vintage pencil sharpener has a rotating selection of circles for different size pencils. Hold the pencil in place, turn the handle on the back, and the cutting gears inside the curved housing will sharpen wooden writing implements nicely.
The instrument still works, although I don't have it screwed into a table or wall, so turning the handle is a bit awkward.
