This is Maya, a Camelot Macaw on display with wonderful colors and demeanor. Maya weighs upwards of 2 pounds, and is more than 30" tail-tip to top of head. She is 14 years old and has been with her human family for 13 years.
==>Macaws are omnivores that can live up to 60 years in the wild. They congregate in flocks. The Camelot Macaw is an F2 (second generation) hybrid: a cross between a Catalina (also a hybrid) Macaw and a Scarlet Macaw. The hybrids don't have true scientific names, therefore the Camelot is denoted by Ara macao/Ara ararauna x Ara macao. More than 35 different macaw hybrids have occurred.
