Artist's Description

This vntage Ford truck at Bannack State Park, Beaverhead County, Montana is still in use. The truck bed has been fitted with bench seats, and the old vehicle is used to tote people Around the large state park. I've accentuated the rust scars with digital painting.

The town sprang up in 1862 after gold was discovered in Grasshopper Creek. Bannack was named the Territorial Capital of Montana in 1864. Bannack continued as a mining town with a fluctuating population until the 1930s. By the 1950s mining had dwindled, folks had moved on and the State of Montana declared Bannack a State Park. It is also a designated historic landmark.
>>>In 2013, a flood devastated parts of the town and closed it for several months, but restoration has been swift and the site, with more than 25 buildings, is again open all year.

About Kae Cheatham

Kae Cheatham

I am a visual artist (Kae C's Images) at work a few miles east of the Continental Divide in Montana USA, who produces photographic images, graphic arts, and computer art. My photos have been used in many publications, including American Cowboy, Bloodlines, Orion Magazine, Pro Rodeo World (along with my articles), and Royal Wings (an international in-flight magazine). Digital painting and graphic art techniques developed when working with authors to create covers for their books. I apply these skills to many of my images. The bulk of my PHOTOGRAPHY deals with rural enterprise and activities. If you are interested in those subjects (with a western flair) please visit my...
