Description
Along the Natchez Trace there are many streams and waterfalls. This one on the Swan is most spectacular. I shot this in my film-camera days (scanned it to the computer in 2005), froze my toes while standing in the cold water, but I couldn't pass up the scene. The area rarely gets the kind of cold that will freeze a waterfall. I like the reflections and the frosted greenery tucked in the rocks.
########## The Natchez Trace is an historic road that stretches through mountainous areas for 440 miles from Nashville, Tennessee to Natchez, Mississippi, linking the Cumberland, Tennessee, and Mississippi rivers. A well-used route by First Peoples of the Americas, and then European trappers, travellers and traders, the trail ruts are deep. Today a scenic parkway extends along the route, with pull offs for history markers and recreational facilities. My son and I helped cut a few of the 30 miles of the horse trails, of which I took advantage since I lived in the area.
