Wild sunflowers are considered a nuisance by some people in my area. I let them grow at my place, enjoying the sunny brightness. The full flower is usually no more than 6 inches across, and the plant grows to maybe 3 feet high. They take over the tulip bed near my door and I'm glad to have the summer season color.
