Artist's Description

I took this image a few decades ago when I was a rodeo photographer and shooting film. On each assignment for the magazine, I tried to take one or two pictures that pleased me. The ICB Intentional Camera Blur composition was something I was experimenting with then. I liked how the horse was zoned in on its job. This bulldogger reached too late and had to abort his attempt to catch the steer. The horse is oblivious to its 260+ pound rider hanging at its side; it's doing what it was trained to do--run beside the steer at full gallop.

Digital painting and graphic art techniques developed when working with authors to create covers for their books. I apply these skills to many of my images. The bulk of my PHOTOGRAPHY deals with rural enterprise and activities. If you are interested in those subjects (with a western flair) please visit my...
