Artist's Description

Pipe Organ Rock: This rock formation is in Beaverhead County, Montana, along the Beaverhead River canyon. The landmark volcanic rock towers 104' high and is part of an elevated terrace of more than 6000'. The power lines, trees and rooftops in the lower part of this image are directly across a narrow road from the formation, and they show the immensity of the geological formation. It is one of at least 73 pillars in Montana, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
