Description
These two pinecones have a bit of frost on them, but are surrounded by very frosty pine needles. This is frost, not snow, that accumulated after two days of dense fog. The temps stayed below 30 degrees F, and the sun was obscured by the heavy atmospheric condition, allowing the frozen fog to build up. Frozen fog isn't unusual for my area of Western Montana, but the two days, with visibilty at my place below 1/4 mile, was different. I dashed outside and took the picture in the eaarly morning of the 3rd day (temp 12 degrees), because I could tell the sunlight was making a recovery. The frost was melted off the sun-side of the trees by 10:30am, and all gone by mid afternoon. Pretty while it lasted.

Nice frosty photo. I like this one today since it's 90 degrees in southwest Michigan. l/f
