Artist's Description
Cell block of the old Montana state prison. The square format accentuates the narrowing of this long hall and for me signifies a dead end situation. I like the stern black metal against the light walls (cleaned up a bit since it is now a tourist destination).Built in 1879, it was the Territorial Prison until Montana achieved statehood in 1889; it then became the Montana State prison, and wasn't retired until 1979. Now it is a museum on the National Registry of Historic Places.

About Kae Cheatham
I am a visual artist (Kae C's Images) at work a few miles east of the Continental Divide in Montana USA, who produces photographic images, graphic arts, and computer art. The bulk of my PHOTOGRAPHY deals with rural enterprise and activities. If you are interested in those subjects (with a western flair) please visit my...
