Description
I have not painted this subject; molded is a better word. I started with a rectangle of colors in a random pattern, then I pushed at it and moved the edges and interior until I had the image I wanted. Once the subject was complete, I layered it against textured backgrounds.

A community of black-tailed prairie dogs live about a mile from my house. They're fun to watch when I drive down the road. One area where they took up residence had been a big dirt patch, and now, among their little mounds are new grasses. Their burrowing has helped water reach the deep roots. I'm sure the fox and coyotes are glad to have them around, too.
