Artist's Description

I have not painted this subject; molded is a better word. I started with a rectangle of colors in a random pattern, then I pushed at it and moved the edges and interior until I had the image I wanted. Once the subject was complete, I layered it against a background I digitally painted.

The American Bison formerly inhabited the prairies of what is now western Canada and the U.S. They massed in herds by the millions during annual migrations.Today they are found mostly in parks and reserves in North America. The Plains Bison are fairly protected and have also become a livestock animal; bison burgers are often a feature at western restaurants. The Wood Bison remains endangered.

Digital painting and graphic art techniques developed when working with authors to create covers for their books. I apply these skills to many of my images. The bulk of my PHOTOGRAPHY deals with rural enterprise and activities. If you are interested in those subjects (with a western flair) please visit my...
