I have not painted this subject; molded is a better word. I started with a rectangle of colors in a random pattern, then I pushed at it and moved the edges and interior until I had the image I wanted. Once the subject was complete, I layered it against a background I digitally painted.

The American Bison formerly inhabited the prairies of what is now western Canada and the U.S. They massed in herds by the millions during annual migrations.Today they are found mostly in parks and reserves in North America. The Plains Bison are fairly protected and have also become a livestock animal; bison burgers are often a feature at western restaurants. The Wood Bison remains endangered.
About Kae Cheatham
I am a visual artist (Kae C's Images) at work a few miles east of the Continental Divide in Montana USA, who produces photographic images, graphic arts, and computer art. I started with SLRs, but since 2002 have embraced the digital era. My photos have been used in many publications, including American Cowboy, Bloodlines, Orion Magazine, Pro Rodeo World (along with my articles), and Royal Wings (an international in-flight magazine). Digital painting and graphic art techniques developed when working with authors to create covers for their books. I apply these skills to many of my images.
