Artist's Description

I have several white-tailed jackrabbits that live in my area. They come close to the house, and often don't bolt away just because I'm outside. I take pictures sof them so I can identify and know how many I have. I also have cottontail rabbits bouncing around. I liked the evening light on this creature. Jackrabbits are technically hares, not rabbits, though both look similar and belong to the same family, Leporidae. Montana has three hares: white-tailed jackrabbit, black-tailed jackrabbit, and snowshoe hare. According to Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, "White-tailed jackrabbits are one of the world’s largest hares, second only to the Alaskan hare. They are 2 feet long from their nose to their 3- to 4-inch-long stubby tail, and weigh 6 to 10 pounds. Because of the animals’ large ears, early settlers called them 'jackass rabbits,' later shortened to jackrabbit...." +++++++++++ This image is copyrighted to Kae C’s Images (Kae Cheatham). About Kae Cheatham

Kae Cheatham

I am a visual artist at work a few miles east of the Continental Divide in Montana. As a former photo journalist, the bulk of my PHOTOGRAPHY deals with rural enterprise and activities. If you are interested in those subjects (with a western flair) please visit my Adobe portfolio at https://adobe.ly/3qqT8fc. A few of these subjects can be found in this Fine Art America gallery, although my focus here is more on digital painting, where I work in various styles, as well as experimental and augmented photography. The COLLECTIONS show the various themes.
