Description
I have several dozen purple bearded iris planted around my property; their wide green fronds are lovely. But this year, the spring weather was so erratic, only one plant produced purple blooms on a two foot stalk. Unexpectedly, however, the wild iris that somehow got in my yard, produced mulitple blooms. I had mowed over the fronds in years past, always regetting that I did, because I hadn't been certain of the flower. This year, the plant was nearly ten inches tall and I noticed buds before I cut. What a difference this delicate wild iris is compared to its voluptuous bearded Iris cousin!
