Description
These four ore loading chutes remain in decent condition. The mining operations, begun in 1883, were shut down in 1941 when the minerals were exhausted. Ores mined were copper, zinc, silver and gold--another reason Montana is known as "The Treasure State." The Comet area is open to public access although main buildings have been closed off for safety reasons.
