Description
This Hunt's Bumblebee might seem to have just landed on this dying sunflower, but it had been there all night. I went out in the cool morning and discovered it; I also found others sleeping under along stems of trees. Twenty minutes after I took this picture, the warm sunlight got this insect stirring.
Hunt's Bumblebees are native to many parts of the U.S. The queens nest in the ground, and I had assumed the workers returned there at night (I've never seen a nest).
