Description
Shot on film; scanned to my computer in 2004.
Another 1995 reenactment image from The Battle of Franklin, fought on November 30, 1864, at Franklin, Tennessee, as part of the Franklin-Nashville Campaign of the American Civil War. Gen. John Bell Hood led a Confederate assault that included six infantry divisions containing eighteen brigades with 100 regiments numbering almost 20,000 men. Despite nearly breaking through the center of the Union line, Hood's forces were driven back with heavy losses. It was one of the worst disasters of the war for the Confederate States Army.

More than 400 historical actors with period-authentic equipment and clothing, were involved in this reenactment. It took place on open fields of Spring Hill, Tennessee, not far from the site of the original battle. In 1995, I lived about 12 miles from there; not surprising that I showed up on the periphery with my camera. Very exciting.
