Description
This is the historic fire tower in Helena, Montana that dates to the late 19th century. It is the last of several structures that served to watch for and alert the area of fires in the mines. Helena burned many times in the 1800s. Remains of mines and some of the furnaces can be found along the outliers of our main, downtown street Last Chance Gulch, the adjacent Grizzly Gulch and others.

Having fought forest fires for about six years, your image captured my attention! I was never in Montana but did see much action in a neighboring state, Idaho. Great job!
